“Shoes,
flowers and butterflies are a celebration of things decorative and transient. I
enjoy exploring their forms, patterns, shapes and textures; using paint
and silver leaf, holding them still so they can be enjoyed and indulged in
.”
Coming from a family of artists, Shyama grew up in the world of fine art, first exhibiting her work at the age of seven on Bayswater Road.
“I remember being entranced by the pigments and palettes of colour at my eye level as I stood in my father’s studio watching him work at mixing colours.”
Shyama went on to study textiles and travelled extensively which further influenced her work. She has since worked for a wide range of creative companies in various disciplines. Throughout this time Shyama has maintained a strong focus on her personal work as an artist, often painting to commission and regularly exhibiting and publishing limited edition prints.
